RESEARCH
Secondary Research
We research and gather key insights from four pillars of business ethnics: organization think, public influence, culture and people, and data privacy that contribute to promoting a healthy work place.
Organizational Think
Utilized effective management style and communication helps to practice good business ethics. Managerial decision-making and ethical standards can influence an individual’s behavior and his/her business ethics.
Public Influence
Public influence affects the way companies inform their consumers of how well they’re meeting expectations or goals. Companies that meet consumer demands for transparency and follow moral guidelines contributes to good reputation.
Data Privacy
Effectively utilizing data privacy and security establishes greater trust in the brand by employees and customers. Establishing adequate data privacy in a company allows employees to feel productive without feeling monitored 24/7.
Culture & People
Employees make better decisions in less time with business ethics as a guiding principle; this increases productivity and overall employee morale. When employees complete work in a way that is based on honesty and integrity, the whole organization benefits.
Key Findings
Poor corporate culture leads to high employee turnover
An environment with a strong culture allows employees to express themselves, have professional dialogue, and simply focus on their jobs. It creates a domino effect leading to the overall growth and success of the company as a whole.
Effective communication and collaboration fosters innovation
Employees need to find consistent and effective ways to communicate and collaborate. Switching between software for collaboration and communication has a cost of learning, especially when working with multidisciplinary teams.
OPPORTUNITY
How might we utilize an effective internal tool to create a business culture where employees and partners alike feel welcome and appreciated?
Solution
SUPPORT
Enable private submission
Employees can access support to voice concerns or illuminate problems in a more constructive and time-efficient way.
RESOURCES
Enable users to revisit resources and guidelines
A clear onboarding process is essential for employees to succeed in their work and become familiar with the company's mission and culture. They can revisit available resources and company guidelines anytime when needed.
FEEDBACK
Allow users to reflect on projects
Satisfaction surveys and internal customer feedback are critical to improving and maintaining a high level of work quality. Companies that value employee feedback has a higher employee retention rate.
OPPORTUNTIES
Encourage employee-to-employee learning programs
Employees can attend events/workshops to learn from their peers and develop new skills. A better understanding of the roles of their colleagues also boosts effective collaboration and work efficiency.

Takeaways
We started with doing secondary research and analyzing business ethics on four pillars: organizational think, data privacy, public influence, and culture of people. We wanted to understand the layers of personality, culture and business needs that contribute to an organization's internal and external business ethics. However, the research on business ethnics is too broad and were eventually found not relevant towards our MVP requirements after further user validation. We ended up pivoted our idea to focus on developing an internal mobile app that could benefit both smaller businesses and employees. If I could go back in time, what I might do differently is to set a more clear criteria and be more specific on our goals.
If I have more time, I wish to conduct user testing with the prototypes to gather more user feedback on the proposed features and identify opportunities for reiteration.
